It has been a mild winter to say the least, lots of good riding days with minimal snow. Which is nice for us who don't like winter sports, or any temp below 72 for that matter. But summer is coming up quick. So I thought i would post a quick show schedule for those of you working on your summer calendars.

First Annual "My shovel blew up and I need to rebuild it/Early spring sale"

So, I blew my shovel up literally as I was on top of Hoover Dam coming back from the Love Cycles show. Problem is loot is tight and what I lack in funds I make up in random, cool bikes that I love. The problem lies in the fact that I now have to sell these bikes to fund a retardedly unreliable Harley Davidson (I'm honestly just BARELY bitter). "My loss is your gain" and "not for the faint of heart" both apply here.

So, above....my beloved 1975 Suzuki T500 Titan, "Olive". 500cc 2-stroke twin, newer paint and seat, newer tires etc. Starts easy and is a little missile.

$1,500.00

My 1999 Street Legal YZ250. Took some finagling at the DMV (multiple trips and physically bringing them their own book to prove it could be done) but it is 100% street legal. Has lighting stator, headlight kit, taillight kit with brake light, DOT tires, supermoto front fender, newer plastics everywhere else, new chain, V-Force reeds and cage, FMF gold pipe and silencer, TAG Metals triple trees.

Huge loss on this at $1200.00 but a dude needs a top end.

So with the advent of Instagram I think we assume all you guys see our bike pics we post. Now I'm assuming we assumed wrong......at least thats my assumption.

Anyway, this is something that I'd normally post on here and kinda forgot to.

This is the shov that Brook bought/traded from Andy after it blew up on the way to Mexico. I bought it from Brook, put a top end in it and rode it for about 200 miles and decided floorboards and the like weren't for me so I chopped it up a tad.

Blasted most the chrome and scotchbrited a grain into a lot of stuff.

Painted wheels, made some pipes, had Andy chop the sissy and fender struts a lil shorter, I cut the seat down to match, bar change, tank change etc etc.

Oh and a belt drive primary. This bike was a serious headache for like 3 months and if it could go wrong this bike would make it happen.....but all that said its a fun lil whip now and I'm really loving it.

(for some reason I love mirrors like this on bikes)

Sure, I'll mix a lil' business into the blog once in a while, sue me! (I'm posturing, please don't actually take me up on that....). I'm lucky enough to rep a couple beasts in their respective art fields, and it just so happens they will both have art shows opening in SLC this coming Friday.

Stone's is at Fice Gallery and is very moto-centric. If you've ever wanted a Steven Stone print I'd make sure to be there. Dude RARELY has prints for sale so don't kick yourself when you're 65 because you didn't grab that tiger by the tail when you had the chance.

Dan's is roughly half a block away at Kayo Gallery. Dude has this art show game on lock with people saving pennies months before in anticipation for when his stuff becomes available to the public. Like always, he has a really rad theme and quite a few pieces along with limited edition prints.

I for one had an amazing time Friday at the SFS #2. We doubled the amount of people from last year and the whole event went off pretty flawlessly. We want everyone to leave the 2nd Annual Salt Flat Social happy, with an arm full of raffle prizes, maybe a trophy and also full. I'm stoked to say we convinced SuAn to bring the famous Chow Truck to our humble little event.

This rad restaurant on wheels is a SLC institution with people all over the city following them to wherever they post up and snacking on their amazing taco's and sliders (even have tofu for you vegetarians). Really glad they decided to join us.

One other nice thing is they take credit cards right at the truck so come hungry and with your card or cash in hand and ready to eat!

Andy and I were talking the other night and decided people dont want bullshit plastic trophies at a bike show (my apologies to people that give those out). First off if you're riding how are you getting that home? And second its gonna break in 2 weeks if it didn't on the way home.

I had some counter shaft sprockets kicking around from the kart days (RIP) and Andy did the rest.

So for those of you who haven't hollered at us yet about being in the bike show, get after it.

Also, we aren't really looking for trailer queens in this show, if you have a bike that you're proud of enter that eff'r! You just might walk away with a rad trophy and some rad prizes. So stop being scared.

As a now former (don't get me started) fanatical fan of Formula 1 racing I lamented the fact that a lot of that old F1 danger from the 60's-80's was now gone. Traction control, all the other driver aids, combined with the tracks being constantly re-worked for added safety meant a lot of that danger was neutered.

Now, I'm not some NASCAR redneck that just wants to see crashes for low IQ entertainment sake, but knowing there is some element of danger makes you have a certain amount of respect for a man, no?

The Isle of Man TT, after all these years, still offers that.......in spades. These are real fucking men. Tank slappers, blind apex's, city streets, country roads, wide open throttles, no runoff areas, 3 foot launches, dive-bombed down hills, the TT is testosterone personified. Its very high on my bucket list of things to see in person.

Yes, I saw this first on Church Of Choppers and yes, the title to this post is ultra homo-erotic.

I hope everybody has their calendars marked for this Monday. This might be the only time in our nations history that MototMonday and fourth of July fall on the same day... Or it just might happen every july. To be totally honest I don't have any idea, I didn't major in Calendarology (the study of calendars for the rest of you). I got my doctorate in philanthropy.

Speaking of philanthropic pursuits I personally braved Costco on a Saturday to get all the supplies for the BBQ. I got hamburgers, hotdogs, even some veggie burgers for you vegitarians, beers and Mexican cokes. MotoMonday and Este Pizza are sponsoring the BBQ so leave your wallets at home... Well actually bring them, I think its the law that you have to carry ID at all time, and we might go get coffee after too.

I didnt know how much beer to get cause Im not a big beer drinker. I drank a few times in High School and that took me about a half of one beer to get wasted. So by my math we should have enough beers for at least 1000 people.

Also we got some shirts printed up and we will be selling them at the BBQ. Pretty tits stuff.

Some weird Euro kid made this commercial for a class project I guess (honestly, I didn't think they had school over there. I thought they just smoked cigarettes and wore 80's knit sweaters until they were old enough to smoke cigarettes and wear leather jackets over their 80's knit sweater and abduct American girls and sell them into slavery.......I'm basing this all off of Hostel and Hostel II: Return Of The Hostel).

Regardless of all that, I A) thought it was super boss and B) it has a Honda NSR as the centerpiece. This is the two-stroke bike Brook wants most and is also the name of a pretty influential car club around these parts in the late 90's (some would say the MOST influential). Disregard the non two-stroke sound at the end of the commercial, I dont think the Slovenian version of iMovie had the 2 stroke expansion pack option.

I know I know, I missed my 2-stroke Tuesday post!

But hopefully this makes up for it. These blokes (wankers? what do we call them?) from Australia already make an Aprilia RS250 conversion to 500cc that makes 130hp at 253lbs(!). They decided to up the ante with this 1100cc triple that they are putting into a stock ZX-11R.

The result? 250hp (at the wheel, Brook) and double the torque of the stock ZX, in an engine that weighs 55lbs lighter.

This is a special TST because it marks the end of one era (always wishing I had one) and the beginning of another (being a 2stroke bike owner).

Selling my Sporty to get it was painful but I think worth it. After calling 3 different dudes and asking them an endless number of (mind numbingly boring for them, i'm sure) questions I settled on this '84 4500 original mile Yamaha RZ350.

I used to have a magazine when I was a kid with this bike in it that I would take to school and read the same article over and over and over. I memorized that thing. After riding it for a few days I can honestly say its even better than I imagined as a snot nosed kid. Thank you 2stroke Jesus.

Just a reminder for everybody. Tomorrow we're gonna do a little field trip out to the South Jordan Sk8 park. The plan is to meet at Este at the usual 7pm hang out eat right quick and then take a burn out to the skate park. If you live out south and would like to just meet us out at the park that works too. There will be lots of people coming that dont skateboard (or rollerblade). So if you dont skate dont feel un-invited. There will be talk of bike and memories past in the parking lot.. maybe like a wheelie contest or something can get organized (brandon will probably win with his new rig though). FXR button up time this week. Out with the old in with the new.
The exhaust that came on it was less than ghetto. It was some shitty vance and hines ripoff pipes. So me being an all time eBay expert I found a dirty fucked up supertrapp exhaust. With a little cutting and little welding, I got that fucker to fit right up.
Then on to the Mikuni carb. I know Brandon and Andy sing the Mikuni praises but this thing was wack in all areas. So i got a Super E for it. But while was pulling off the old carb i realized that the gaskets for the manifold were torn to all hell... Maybe thats why it was acting like a prude on prom night. But im not a mechanic.

Well hopefully this thing can make it all the way to mexico next time.

My American pride comes out vehemently when it comes to motor racing. I want desperately for an American to succeed in F1 (damn you Scott Speed....). Thankfully we have a tradition of American motorcycle hero's who have won at the highest level on the world stage.

We know the names Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson and Kenny Roberts but Kevin Schwantz is what we in the biz call a "charger". Dude either won or crashed. He wasn't a "points racer", he just wanted to fucking win....and win he did. 25 total wins in 500cc and one World Championship in 1993.

Besides the ex(r)otic nightlife, the best thing about the recent mexico trip was chopping it up all day/night with the squad. Such an amazing few days interrupted only slightly by a few nights of teeth-rattling armageddon. Thanks to the dudes that came down. One step closer to CA

I am planning on riding to Born Free, then up the coast, stopping in on the Central Coast (pismo) then to SF and on to tahoe, or sacto hills, then home, taking a week to do the trip, anyones welcome to do the ride with us if you want. I will be riding from Southern CA with one of my good friends from KC,MO, (check out The Anchor Motoshop blog). He is taking 3 weeks for his journey....must be nice. I needed to build a sissy bar to hold my gear so I hit up Jared Massic down in Utah County, he is a welding teacher at a high school down in Spanish Fork, they have an array of sick tools, welders, cutters etc... everything. He helped build this sissy bar and I am super stoked on it. Still needs some final welds cleaned up and some tabs bent out for my skateboard, almost done...My lady can now ride in a little more comfort too. To chrome, or powdercoat is the next question. A step closer to CA....I am antsy for the trip.

Back by ~~endless shit talking~~ popular demand, the one and only MotoMonday Masher of the month. On the hot seat this month, Jay Keele.

Jay is about as solid of a dude as I've met in the last few years and has a serious love for motorcycles and anything on two wheels. He is also one of the dudes lucky enough to catch the now infamous topless 3am double up ride last summer (you're welcome).

Name/age/height/weight: Jay Keele, 38 yrs young, 5'6 1/2" , solid 165lbs.

Why motorcycles: I guess it may have been my parents telling me I couldnt ride motorcycles. I was 17 and came home with a 1966 Honda Dream and my Mom said "Wait til your Dad gets home" My Dad came home and said " Thats pretty cool" The rest was history. I have owned over 100 bikes throught the last 20 years,80% of them Vespas and Lambretta scooters, the rest Jap bikes, a BSA, and Harleys. I am a big fan of motorcycles/2 wheelers in general. At this point in my life I am more into cycles because they you dont have to have a lot of space to store them. I dont have a garage, if I did I would have a hot rod or custom in it as well.

Current bikes in the stable and their status: Right now I have my trusty 95 Softail, that is my go to bike. I can get on it and ride anywhere. I also have a 92 Sporty that I am turning into a Street Tracker of sorts. It still needs paint and sorting out. Hopefully have it done to ride this summer. I also have 2 Vespas, 2 Lambrettas.

Favorite MotoMonday memory: I would have to say my favorite MM Memory would be my first time out last May 2010. I am not a blog slummer, and I lay pretty low in my personal life raising 4 kids and trying to keep a wife happy, so I didnt know many of the people who come to this or that it even existed. So when I rolled up with Brady Knotts from Spanish Fork, it was both of our first time I was shocked at all the bikes and good, cool people building cool stuff. It was refreshing to know a lot of them were Straight Edge kids too, like myself. It is sort of a rarity in most parts to find a good concentration of SE guys into this stuff. Then that night the ride started......It was straight up mayhem in SLC, tearing up downtown 30 deep, going up 4th south S turn scraping pipes, sparks flying, passing the UofU going 90+. I havent had that much fun for ages. Still my favorit to date.

The one bike you want but don't have: Shoot, thats a tough one, I want one of everything. It would probably be a Knuckle Chopper, I will probably have one come late June when I win it at Born Free...*editors note: false*

Favorite snack: Rocky Road ice cream, or maybe just sugar in general. I am probably borderline Diabetic.

Lisa Turtle, Jessie Spano or Kelly Kapowski and why: Man, probably Kelly Kapowski, you have to realize that I am basing this clearly off looks, My little sisters watched that show, I wasnt into it. I have to thank Google for helping me know who the hell you were talking about!

Hulk Hogan or Ultimate Warrior and why: I am going to have to go with Ultimate Warrior. I was never a big fan of Hulk, he was always too commercialized and glamourous, and I hated is thinned out creepy blonde hair. Growing up in Vegas my dad used to take us to the Showboat to watch wrestling. I used to love that stuff as a kid. I saw all of the greats there.

Tonight I had a great time seeing all the regulars and meeting a few more new folks. Its cool to see people here regularly and slowly grow into friends with them, and be able to help a fellow rider out in any way possible. There is an ecclectic group of people that show up to this and I really enjoy hearing about peoples stories and getting to know them. There were 5 riders that came up from Utah County, one was a MM Virgin named Roger Johnston he is a Veteran and also is into Hot Rods as well, he had a cool hand built sportster, He built the frame, tank fender seat, etc... I got home @ midnight it was 37 degrees and I was dressed for riding so I was feeling good. I coulda rode for hours. I am glad riding season is here. Looking forward to some great MotoMondays this year, in warmer weather and longer nights. Oh, and i think there were 31 bikes tonight I think Brandon said....pretty Rad!!!
